2011 : Nellie Cole went to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, August 3, at the age of 90. She died peacefully in her own home.
Nellie was born on February 4, 1921, in McLeod, Alberta, to Lena and Jacob Feddes, the fourth of six children. At an early age she and her family moved to the Gallatin Valley. As a young girl, Nellie enjoyed horseback riding and helping on her family’s farm. She attended Belgrade schools.
In her teen years Nellie was employed by the Simon Cole family and in this setting met her future husband, the Coles’ son Walter. On February 5, 1946, Nellie and Walter were married. Recently they celebrated their 65th anniversary. For many years Nellie and Walter farmed the Cole family farm.
Nellie enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. She and Walter were charter members of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Churchill.
Nellie is survived by her husband, Walter; and her three children, Marlene (Harv) Te Slaa, Stuart, and Norma (Gary) Bekker, and Gary Thompson who was like a son to her; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Rolena Venhuizen; and her brother Marvin (Nell) Feddes; widowed sisters-in-law Alyce Finch and Sally Cole; and her brother-in-law Bernard (Pearl) Cole. Nellie Cole was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister.
The family expresses special thanks to Nellie’s faithful care giver Christine, and to Hospice of Southwest MT for their dedicated and loving care.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday August 6, 2011, in the Churchill Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Bethel Christian Reformed Church on Churchill at 3:00 p.m. bron: Bozeman Daily Chronicle van 4-8-2011
