1957 : Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna ,Vander Meulen, 71, were held at the Christian Reformed church, July 19, 1957 with Rev. C. Huissen officiating. Burial was in the Rock Valley cemetery.
Johanna Kas was born June 20, 1886 at Orange City.
She was married to Nick Vander Meulen at Orange City Feb. 26, 1908 and lived at Orange City, Ocheydan and in Minnesota before coming to Rock Valley where they have lived about 40 years. Mr. Vander Meulen died Nov. 9, 1953.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Henry Bottger of Fairview, S. D.; Mrs. Marion Klein of Maurice; .Mrs. Albert Muehlethaler of Rock Valley and Mrs. Clarence Vande Weerd of Aurelia: nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. John Draayer of Ireton; and Mrs. Effie Vos, who has made her home here for the past four years; and one brother; Dick Kas of Pipestone, Minn.
One daughter, Mrs. Henry J. Kuyper preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1954. bron: Rock Valley Bee van 25-7-1957
