1985 : Eva Brouwer Van Voorst passed away at her home on March 20, 1985, at the age of 69 year’s 9 months and 18 days.
Eva Brouwer Van Voorst, the daughter of Reinder and Gertje De Vries Brouwer, was born June 2, 1915, in Rock Valley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Rock Valley area, and it was there she received her early education.
Eva married Sam Van Voorst on March 8, 1935, in Rock Valley. They lived in that community until moving to Spencer in 1965. She has since made her home in Spencer, where she was a member of Spencer Christian Reformed Church. Mrs. Van Voorst was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 22, 1970, two brothers, Herman and John, and one sister, Gertrude.
Eva is survived by three sons and their wives: Jim and Barbara of Spencer, Harlan and Carol of Windom, Minn., and Ron and Mary Lee of Owatonna, Minn.; two daughters, Elaine De Ruyter, and her husband, John, of Spencer and Glenda Yeager of Spencer; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Dora Van Otterloo of Bellflower, Calif.; other relatives and friends.
Services were held on Saturday, March 23, 1985 at 10:00 a.m. at Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa. Rev. Andrew Van Schouwen officiated the services.
