Daughter of Joseph Nunes 9/8/1883-8/1963 and Adelaide 1883-1954
Ruth (Nunes) Andrade, a lifelong city resident, died at Charlton Memorial Hospital Monday Oct 14, 1996, after a long illness. She was 74. She was the wife of Arthur Andrade of Plain Street.
Mrs. Andrade was born in Taunton and educated in city schools. She worked as a seamstress for the former Taunton Dress Company for 30 years, retiring at the age of 65. A communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, she belonged to the Holy Rosary Sodality and Holy Ghost Society and was a recipient of the Marian Medal Award. She was also a member of the Portuguese American Civic Club Women’s Auxiliary.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Arthur Paul Andrade of Watertown and Ronald Joseph Andrade of Tobaccoville, NC; two daughters, Kathleen Marie Quackenbush of Deltona, FL and Donna Marie Sessums of Taunton; two sisters, Elizabeth Alexander of Bristol, RI and Isabel Costa of Taunton; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Silva Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. bron: Taunton Daily Gazette , Tuesday Oct 15, 1996 pag 9
